Mambo (formerly named Mambo Open Source or MOS) is an open source content management system (CMS) for creating and managing websites through a simple web interface. It has attracted many users due to its ease of use. Mambo also includes more advanced features such as page caching to improve performance on busy sites, advanced templating techniques, and a fairly robust API.

Miro gives all the rights on Mambo Open Source CMS PDF Print E-mail

Peter Lamont, CEO (chief, executive director) of the Miro has signed up the pact which gives all the rights and interests of Mambo name and logotype and also connected trade marks to Mambo Foundation.
The bill envelops the following materials: a) all the rights, titles, and interests of Miro in the trade marks Mambo and in Mambo Copyright Works (the works protected by authors rights) b) full advantage from Mambo trade marks and Mambo copyright works, of any license gave by Miro (e.g. GNU/GPL) c)all its rights against any third sides in defense of Mambo Trade Marks and Mambo Copyright Works, including all the rights in satisfactions of the actions and demands and also in damage incurred, including the damage from this document violation.

The bill was signed up in 2 reasons: at first, the transfer gives mambo Foundation the right to control the usage of the name and logotype Mambo and code which is in base of MOS CMS. Second, according to the conditions of the bill Mambo Foundation should leave mambo code opened (Open Source),  that is why Foundation can not limit Mambo CMS with more strict license.
Ric Sherves, the chief of the right defense subdivision has noticed that “It is a great news for mambo society particularly and for an association of opened codes in common. Now we have rights holder which has not only rights for non commerce Foundation, but moves further to the defense of the rights and interests of the open codes association in common giving an opportunity to be sure that Mambo will be free and open in future”.

"Foundation is thankful to Miro and Peter Lamont for that”, adds Shrews. “It answers Peter’s word “to cooperate the society””
Lamont has answered that “to my mind, it is a culmination of 5 year efforts, of giving heart and energy to what I believe in: not only in Mambo, but in society in common. I believe that it is a certain step and I have mambo to Foundation to rule it as they want”
All the rights were given to foundation for a symbolic price – only one dollar (1$).
